Choosing the Right Clothes and Accessories for a Masquerade Party

Masquerade balls and parties are the perfect place to dress up in a fancy outfit, and have some fun. At masquerade parties or balls, guests are required to wear a mask. Aside from the mask, however, you must also wear the appropriate outfit, shoes and accessories. You must also make sure that your hair is properly styled to suit the occasion.

Masquerade Masks

The most important part of a masquerade party outfit, is the mask. There are many different styles and types of masquerade masks available. The first step is to decide what type of mask you want to purchase. You can find masquerade masks that cover the whole face, masks that cover half of the face, and masks that only cover the eye area, with holes for the eyes. These masks usually feature a ribbon, which you tie around the head to keep the mask in place. You can also find stick masquerade masks, which, as the name suggests, is a mask with a stick attached to it. You hold stick masquerade masks over your face using the stick.

Masquerade Outfits

At masquerade parties, women generally wear formal dresses or a formal skirt and top. Men generally, wear either a three piece or a two-piece suit, with a tie or bow tie. What outfit you wear depends on your personal preferences, but also, the tone of the venue. If the masquerade party is at a formal venue or if it is a masquerade ball, then a floor length formal dress would be ideal for women to wear. In this situation, men should wear a three-piece suit and even a bowtie. For masquerade parties in smaller venues or in someone’s home, women can wear formal dresses of any length, or a top and a skirt. Men in this situation can wear a two-piece suit and a regular necktie.

Masquerade Party Shoes

For a masquerade party, men should wear formal shoes and women should wear either high-heels or formal flat shoes. Make sure that whatever shoes you choose compliment your outfit. Shoes in neutral shades, such as black, brown and beige will all compliment any type of outfit well. If you want to choose a colourful pair of shoes, then make sure that they compliment the colour of your outfit.

Masquerade Accessories

Some people like to wear accessories, such as bracelets, rings or necklaces, to parties. While it is perfectly fine to wear jewellery, costume jewellery and other accessories to a masquerade party, you have to be careful that you don’t overdo it. At a masquerade party, you will already be wearing a mask and a formal outfit, so it is best not to wear too many other accessories.

Masquerade Hairstyles

At a masquerade party, your hair should be neatly styled. Women with long hair can wear it down if they want to, but if your dress has a fairly fussy neckline, then you may want to wear it in an up-do. Up-dos work great for masquerade parties, as they are neat, stylish, elegant and polished.
