How to Choose a Masquerade Mask
Masquerade balls are great occasions to dress up and have a good time. At a masquerade ball or party, people generally wear formal wear, combined with a face mask. This mask is called a “masquerade mask” and they are available in a number of different styles. If you are attending a masquerade ball or party, then the most important part of your outfit for the occasion will be your mask. There are many different types of masquerade masks available, so choosing the right one can be a little difficult, but once you know what’s available, it will be easier.
Choosing a Masquerade Mask
Step One: Consider your Outfit
Before you purchase your mask, you have to think about what type of outfit you will be wearing. Your mask should compliment your outfit, not clash with it, so it is important that you have an outfit in mind first. You can then choose a mask that will compliment it.
Step Two: Decide what Type of Mask you Want to Wear
The next step is to decide what type of masquerade mask you want to wear. There are many different types of masquerade masks. There are stick masquerade masks, which usually only cover the eye area or up to half of the face. Stick masks feature a mask attached to stick. You hold the mask over your face using the stick. You can also get masquerade masks that cover half of your face, just your eye area and full facemasks, all of which usually come with a ribbon or elastic which you tie around the head to secure the mask in place.
Step Three: Decide on the Right Colour
After deciding what type of mask you want to wear, you need to decide what colour you want your mask to be. You can find masks that are just one colour, such as black, masks that contain a few colours, such as red black and gold, but you can also get patterned masks, which feature numerous colours. It is best to choose a mask that compliments the colour of your outfit. Masks that feature neutral and more muted shades, such as black, white, gold, silver, and cream will compliment many outfits in different colours. If you want to choose a mask that features a bolder colour, such as red or pink, then make sure that it won’t clash with the colour of your outfit. Patterned masquerade masks are also ideal, but you have to be careful, as these can easily clash with your outfit. If your outfit is plain, or only features a subtle pattern, then it would be okay for you to wear a patterned masquerade mask.
Step Four: Consider Extra Features
You can find masquerade masks in a number of different styles and colours, but you can also find masks that include other features, such as feathers, glitter and diamantes. Consider whether you want your mask to have any embellishments. If your outfit already has embellishments, such as gems or feathers, then you may want to choose a relatively simple mask to compliment it. On the other hand, you may want to match your outfit to your mask, so choosing a mask which features similar embellishments to the ones on your outfit is also a good idea. If you are wearing a relatively, plain, simple outfit, then you may want to choose a mask that features embellishments, such as diamantes.
